Modbus

Modbus may be utilized within the KAS-IDE as communication either with an AKI2G HMI or with a third-party Modbus-compatible device.

KVB panel	Third-party device
When setting up your KAS project, select "KVB Panel" in the Controller Properties dialog (see Configure the Controller).	When setting up your KAS project, select "Other Modbus Device" in the Controller Properties dialog (see Configure the Controller).
The Fieldbus Editor is not needed for configuring or using Modbus	A Modbus configuration must be added to the Fieldbus Editor.
The Dictionary will have a check box enabled for passing variables to the KVB.	See Modbus Slave for information on configuring Modbus for sharing variables with external masters.

AKD and AKD2G devices also support Modbus communications. This connection has different setup parameters and interface screens. It is typically not used in applications built with the KAS-IDE as Modbus communications in a KAS-based system interface directly to the PxMM controller.
